Enjoy the wonders and excitement of the Big Island from tropical rain forests to the rim of awesome Kilauea Caldera at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, admission included. This personalized scenic tour presents panoramic views in comfort on deluxe air-conditioned coaches. Fully narrated by trained driver/guides with stops to view the contrasts of the Big Island, rain forests, deserts, coffee plantations, a macadamia nut or candy factory, black sand beach, orchid nursery and more.

Lunch on own...You can have a quick sandwich or enjoy the delicious buffet lunch at Lava Rock Restaurant near the Kilauea Caldera crater. Bring light sweater/ jacket for the volcano area.

Take this stargazing tour up the famous Mauna Kea Mountain and watch a breathtaking sunset from the summit 13,796 feet above sea level. Then experience the night sky 9,200 feet above sea level at the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy (weather permitting). Scientists believe that this is the best place in the world to observe the night sky thus the largest collections of telescopes from many different countries are located here.

Tentative Schedule:

2:30 PM     Pick up Hilton Waikoloa Village
4:00 - 4:45 PM     Onizuka Visitor Center - Boxed Dinner and acclimatization
5:30 - 6:00 PM     Summit - Sunset watch
6:30 - 7:45 PM     Onizuka Visitor Center - Stargazing
9:15 PM     Return to Hilton Waikoloa

COST: $185.00 per person. Gratuity not included; suggest $5.00 to $10.00 per person gratuity at own discretion.

NOTE: Weather conditions on Mauna Kea can be severe, including high winds, freezing temperature, fog and snow. Tour many be cancelled due to weather conditions or other factors beyond our control. No guarantee that stars and constellations will be seen on the tour.
  • Wear warm clothing and comfortable covered shoes.
  • All passengers must sign a waiver before participating in the tour
RESTRICTIONS:
  • Passengers must be over 16 years old
  • Not available for persons who are pregnant, with respiratory or heart conditions
  • Scuba divers must wait at least 24 hours after last dive to take tour
  • Customers should hydrate 24 hours prior, during tour and 12 hours after tour
  • Avoid drinking alcohol before the tour
  • Avoid gas producing food the day before and on day of tour
  • Stop smoking 48 hours before the tour
  • Not recommended for those unaccustomed to physical activity; do not over exert one-self at the Summit

Round trip transfer into Kailua-Kona from Hilton Waikoloa Hotel. See the quaint seaside village of Kailua-Kona, home to the Ironman Triathlon; site of the Hulihee Palace, one of two palaces in the United States; Mokuaikaua Church, the oldest congregational church west of the Rocky Mountains, lots of shops and eateries. Visit the Ahuena Heiau, a reconstructed replica of the last home of Kamehameha the Great, adjacent to Kailua Pier.
