The Vienna International Airport is located about 20 km south-east of Vienna. There are various options for travel to and from the airport:
- A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs approx. Euro 40 one-way

CAT (City Airport Train) rapid train to the city centre “Landstrasse
– Wien Mitte”, where taxis and underground lines (U3 and U4) are
available. Ticket price per person, one-way Euro 9.
- Furthermore you can use local trains and buses to the city centre (see link below).

The best way of getting around in Vienna is by public transport. Vienna offers an extensive network and reasonable prices for underground, trams, busses and trains. With your congress registration you will receive a ticket being valid for the duration of the conference (to be issued when you pick up your registration package on site). For more information on the public traffic network please check the website at: www.wienerlinien.at (click “Tourist Information” for information in English language).

Official opening hours of banks are from Monday to Friday from 08.30–12.30 and13.30 – 15.00 hours. Banks are closed on Saturdays and Sundays and public holidays (Note: Tuesday, Oct. 26, is a public holiday in Austria!). It is possible to change foreign currency into Euro at most city hotels and exchange counters.
Most hotels, restaurants and shops in Vienna accept major credit cards.
The currency in Austria is the Euro. The congress fees and hotel accommodation are charged in Euro.
The mains voltage in Austria is 230 Volts, the frequency is 50 Hertz.
Neither the Conference Organizers nor the Vienna University of Technology nor Austropa Interconvention accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss of, or damage to, property belonging to participants and their accompanying persons, either during or as a result of the congress. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

We ask all participants to kindly switch off
their mobile phones or put them in silent mode for the congress sessions A garage is available at the University of
Technology (Freihaus) and will be subject to parking charges. Shops are generally open during the week from
09.00 – 18.00, and on Saturday from 09.00 – 12.00 (17:00 in most shopping
areas). Shops remain closed on Sundays and public holidays (Note:
Tuesday, Oct. 26, is a public holiday in Austria!). On Sunday, Oct. 24, from 18:00 to 20:00 a
welcome reception will be held at the “Festsaal” (Ceremony Hall) of the
Vienna University of Technology. You will also be able to register at this
occasion. On Monday, Oct. 25, a concert is scheduled for
19:00 at the conference site. On Tuesday, Oct. 26, the banquet will be held
at the town hall of Vienna (“Rathaus”) after a reception by the Mayor of
Vienna. On Wednesday, Oct. 27, a fare-well party will
be held at the conference site after the last session. For these events, additional (spouse) tickets
can be purchased during registration. For organized tours and other touristic

Engineering Building (Gusshausstrasse 27-29) of the Vienna University of
Technology on Sunday, Oct. 24, starting from 9:00. The Conference (Freihaus, building D), the
Tutorials (Electrical Engineering Building, building C), the Welcome Reception
(Ceremony Hall, building A), and the Monday evening concert (Freihaus,
building D) will all be held at buildings of the Vienna University of

October is around 14 deg C (57 deg F) and the weather can be unsettled. |
